The company's research, dashboards and data visualizations are used by leading media companies, government agencies, political groups, and industry lobbyists to better understand public policy, performance and influence.

OhMyGov seeks an experienced, enterprising journalist with a strong grasp of statistics and/or graphic design to be a core member of the editorial team. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing media company with an established brand and client base in a role that affords considerable creative freedom.

Responsibilities of the Data Editor / Reporter include:

    - create compelling news stories, research reports and visualizations
    - conduct original reporting and analysis of data and trends
    - conceive and pitch story ideas that showcase OhMyGov's vast data bank
    - lead large data gathering projects
    - assist team in upgrading the website and developing new editorial products

The ideal candidate would have 4+ years covering politics or government as a reporter or analyst, be fluent in social media and current Web technologies, love spreadsheets, have experience with analytics and project management, be adaptable, have a quick wit and sharp intellect ... and most of all, be deeply passionate about creating stories and graphics that get people talking and tweeting.

Technical skills in at least a few of the following are expected: Photoshop, Illustrator, SPSS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other presentation tools. College degree required; a major in Journalism won't be held against you. The job is based in Washington D.C., but remote candidates will be considered.

Competitive start-up compensation package. Send resume, cover letter and 3 relevant clips/works via email with subject: Data Editor.
