    The Knight-Mozilla OpenNews project engages developers around the world to create code that will make journalism thrive on the open web. The Community Manager is the key position to make that happen.

    The Community Manager is a wired-in connector who knows how to grow participation in the OpenNews project by interacting with tech communities around the world.

    You'll be spending your days maximizing the5 prestigious Knight-Mozilla Fellows' experience, facilitating participation in hack days and learning labs around the world, and helping to grow the community around journalism code.

    What You'll Do
    • Work with Knight-Mozilla Fellows to maximize their experience.
    • Coordinate with organizers of the global journalism hack days, and help to locate and engage participants in them.
    • Help to organize participants in online learning labs.
    • Assist with logistics for events and Fellows' travel.
    • Perform outreach to developer communities to inform them about opportunities throughout the OpenNews project.
    • Empower individuals to help spread journalism code and tell the foundation's story.
    • Track participation across initiatives, use metrics to further the OpenNews mission.
    • Be a strong voice in communicating the Foundation's mission via blogs and social media.
    • As with any small team, assist with all aspects of operating a successful program.

    What You Bring
    • Experience organizing communities, both real-world and digital
    • An innate understanding of how to engage and drive participation
    • Familiarity with the open-source development space
    • Great communication skills with an ability to motivate others to communicate
    • A love of connecting, tweeting, blogging and chatting, online
    • An outgoing personality-people like engaging with you
    • Organization skills: you're able to track and file info
    • An understanding of and commitment to the values of Mozilla and the open web community.
